Flying Firemen Ltd was form in 1965 and was contacted by the BC Forest Service to provide aerial firefighting support using a fleet of ex RCAF Consolidated PBY-5A Canso aircraft out of Pat Bay Airport.
On 16 July 1967, aircraft CF-FFX was responding to a fire on Skirt Mountain near Goldstream BC. After two hours on scene during a low pass the aircraft's left-wing struck the treeline and collapsed. The aircraft crashed and was consumed by fire taking the lives of pilots Alex Davidson and Robert "Paddy" Moore.
