Surplus USAAF aircraft in civilian markings with registration NC79822. The aircraft was being ferried to join the Israeli Air Force when on May 20, 1948 it crashed and burned on take-off near Rome, Italy killing Canadian World War ll fighter ace George “Buzz” Buerling and fellow pilot Leonard Cohen.
